Dave Stevens R.I.P.

I just wanted to post a quick note about this.  Dave Stevens a phenominal artist, and creator of one of my favorite comics The Rocketeer, has passed away.
I met him once, briefly, at the Chicago Comicon, and he was, although quiet, completely nice, to a complete stranger, that I was to him.  I'm sure I made some stupid comments about the Rocketeer, and how I'd bought the very first appearance in the back of the Mike Grell comic from Pacific comics, just for his art, but he was polite, and had probably heard the same thing hundreds, make that thousands, of times...
As I said he was an amazing artist, and I wish there was more out there of his sequential stuff, the comic stuff, but we have what we have, and what he did was finely honed, and expertly crafted.

In closing, I can't say that I knew him well, but I certainly am saddened by his passing.  He made all of us who loved his art, who were artists ourselves, try a little harder, and sigh that we just couldn't  even get close to his skills.  His artwork was lovingly crafted, and lovingly admired, what more can you say for an artist.

And for you Rocketeer fans out there...
"molly-coddle, molly-coddle, bush-wah-zee, grab 'em by the garders, and toss 'em in the sea!"
